A 12 week course for all who are interested in putting their own story or that of a loved one down on paper.
This course will run in tandem with Novel Writing. The course includes tuition, targeted exercises and the option to submit your work for a session's focus and critique. |
The course will cover all the main concerns of organisation, story arc, narration, and tone. Alongside this, focus on the writer's craft will help you hone your writing skills to engage the reader, inspire and resonate. Exercises are innovative and varied.
We will examine the art of story-telling through the work of established autobiographers and you will receive encouragement to stay motivated, build your word count and share feedback.

- Learn how to structure your memoir and use elements of story-telling to engage and resonate with your reader
- Discover the limits and freedoms of first person point of view and develop your narrative voice
- Explore the role of dialogue
- Establish your story arc and structure your scenes
- Expand your language, hone your writer's craft and editorial skills
- Be given clear, in-depth explanations with lots of examples from published fiction
- Receive feedback, insightful critique and encouragement
- Write a synopsis for your memoir
